この度 Gallery OUT of PLACE TOKIO では、西川茂による「under construction or destruction」展を開催いたします。
西川は1997年まで近畿大学で環境デザインを学んでいましたが、その後美術への関心が高まり転向を決意。大阪芸術大学付属大阪美術専門学校に入学しています。
2002年同学校の芸術研究科を修了後、アメリカのTriform Camphill Communityでの滞在制作（障害者生活支援スタッフとして滞在する傍ら、作品制作を行ないました）を経験。
帰国後の2009年、関西を拠点に画家として発表し始め、繊細な画法と大胆な構図を持ち味として精力的に発表を続けてきました。
しかし、2013年以降の数年は対外的な活動を極力減らし、原点に立ち返る中で画家として新しく強固な自己を確立することに専念していました。
2015年後半からは徐々に目を外に向け始め、この度「under construction or destruction」という新シリーズを携え、本格的に再始動しています。シリーズ「under construction or destruction」は、街でしばしば見かける養生シートで覆われた建設中の建造物をモチーフにした作品群です。そこには環境や自然に対する作家の深い思いや考察が反映されています。
是非この機に、西川の筆致が描き出す油彩の醍醐味をご鑑賞いただき、その奥に込められた現代社会へのメッセージを感じ取っていただければと思います。

Gallery OUT of PLACE TOKIO would like to present its Apr. – May. exhibition of Shigeru NISHIKAWA ” under construction or destruction ”

Kansai-based Shigeru NISHIKAWA started displaying his work in 2009.
From this point, he has been recognized by his artworks of a delicate, yet bold sensibility.
However, in the number of years following 2013, he has completely reduced outside activity as a return to his origins as an artist, devoted to building a strong personal foundation.
In the latter half of 2015 his view has started shifting to the outside, and is a second coming geared for his newest series presented her as, ” under construction or destruction.”

In his newest works gathered in the series, ” under construction or destruction,” NISHIKAWA uses the motif of buildings covered by protective sheets during construction. Underlying these images we find the artist’s deep reflections on our environment and nature.

It is our pleasure to invite you to experience the pleasure brought forth by NISHIKAWA’s oil brushstrokes that hold a hidden message for contemporary society beneath the surface.

Gallery OUT of PLACE TOKIO がスペースを構える 3331 Arts Chiyoda において開催される『3331 Art Fair 2017 -Various Collectors Prizes-』に、Houxo Que、須賀悠介、西川茂 （以上ギャラリー推薦）、根本裕子（ビルドフーガス・高田彩氏推薦）が参加します。

今年で4回目となる『3331 Art Fair 2017 -Various Collectors Prizes-』は、すでに多方面で活躍するアーティストから、キャリアを踏み出したばかりのアーティストまで、バリエーションに富んだ顔ぶれが競演する展覧会形式で開催される、アートシーンのこれからを予見するオルタナティブなアートフェアとなります。
今年は、全国各地の7名のキュレーターやコマーシャルギャラリー、オルタナティブスペース、そして 3331 Arts Chiyoda から推薦された70名を超える作家が出展します。期間中は作品展示の他、トークショーやアートとワインを同時に楽しめる 3331ワインDay、映画「ハーブ&ドロシー」の上映会などさまざまなコンテンツも盛り沢山な内容となっています。弊廊（2F 207号室）で開催中の中島麦『WM new works』展と併せてぜひご来場ください。

Gallery OUT of PLACE TOKIO will participate in the upcoming “ 3331 Art Fair 2017 – Various Collectors Prizes – ,” held in 3331 Arts Chiyoda where our space is located. We will exhibit artists recommended by our gallery, Houxo Que, Yusuke SUGA, and Shigeru NISHIKAWA, as well as Yuko NEMOTO recommended by Aya Takada (from birdo flugas)

Entering its fourth year, “ 3331 Art Fair 2017 – Various Collectors Prizes – ” is an alternative art fair that brings together artists established in multiple fields, as well as those making their first steps into a career. Moreover, artworks are all displayed in exhibition format and artists compete in a contest between a line up full of variation. This year, the fair will host seven participants including curators, commercial galleries, alternative spaces, and 3331 Arts Chiyoda will display more than 70 recommended artists. During the exhibition period, other related events will be held such as, “3331 Wine Day,” where visitors can enjoy talk shows and artworks with wine, a film screening of Herb and Dorothy, and many others. We are also pleased to invite you to our gallery’s(2F ♯207) current exhibition of nakajima mugi’s work, “WM new works,” during your visit.
